We are an experienced team led by our Solution Architect, Founder and CEO Dr Phumlani Nkontwana. Fuata works with seasoned economists, data scientists, data engineers, data architects and project managers spread across Africa and other parts of world.

We have a well sought after data internship where we help aspiring data scientists learn big data, consulting and measurement skills before launching their careers in any industry.

Phumlani Nkontwana

Founder and CEO

Phumlani is an expert of entrepreneurship-led development, the founder and chief executive of Fuata Africa; a data, research and advisory firm solving fragmentation of entrepreneurial ecosystem data and development in Africa. He is also a founding director of the Allan Gray Centre for Africa Entrepreneurship at Stellenbosch University. During his career, Phumlani has actively participated in multiple social change projects to enhance entrepreneurship-led development in Africa

Alem Bekele

Project Manager

Alem Bekele is a recent Global MBA graduate from George Washington University where she specialized in Entrepreneurship and Emerging Markets. During her last semester, she studied abroad at the University of Cape Town to study the Political Economy of doing Business in Africa. She's a first-generation Ethiopian/American based in Washington, DC.

Thabelang Motlokwane

Office Manager

Thabelang Motlokwane holds a Strategic Brand Communication degree with a versatile background spanning personal assistant roles, event management, airline back-office operations, reception duties, and administrative tasks. I have honed a diverse skill set crucial for effective organizational support. Adept in multitasking and possessing good organizational skills, I enjoy relationship building.
